Med letoma 2008 in 2011 so bile v Sloveniji izbrane štiri destinacije, ki so si prislužile laskavi naziv EDEN: European Destination on ExcelleNce. To so Idrija, reka Kolpa, Soča in Solčavsko. Letos se njim in celotni evropski mreži EDEN destinacij, ki so razpredene po 27 članicah EU in kandidatkah za vstop, spet lahko pridružijo tudi slovenske destinacije.

Javna agencija SPIRIT, izvajalec razpisa, letos k sodelovanju vabi destinacije, ki se poleg drugih oblik turizma osredotočajo tudi na dostopno turistično ponudbo in tako spodbujajo lokalni turizem tudi s trajnostjo in spodbujanjem obiska skozi celo leto. Tema razpisa je torej dostopni turizem.

Ta vrsta turizma oz. recimo temu raje način organiziranja turizma, omogoča tudi invalidom, starejšim, senzorno, psihično in drugače oviranim osebam neodvisno koriščenje turističnih proizvodov.

Rok za oddajo prijav na razpis je petek, 1. marca 2013. Več informacij o razpisu pa najdete tukaj. Sicer je dostopni turizem v Sloveniji že pričel delovati, npr. kot novi način vodenja po Ljubljani.
